10 Ariel Audition Outfits That’ll Have Them Floundering For More – The Little Mermaid’s Getting a New Wardrobe

10 Ariel Audition Outfits

I have to confess, Ariel is a tough gal to dress. She’s basically naked for the outfit that everyone knows her for, and the other outfits are your stereotypical princess. It has you thinking… what the heck do I put on my body for this audition? A swimsuit? A ballgown?

Before we get started, definitely sign up for our emails if you want a new article on the business of acting every week!

Here’s her classic mermaid look:

And who could forget her sail dress?!

Something I noticed the last time that I auditioned for Ariel was that they specifically said she should have nice arms? Or, a powerful upper body? I can’t remember the exact wording, but it was there. These dresses showcase your arms and upper body. Flaunt that gorgeous bod of yours, girl!

I’ve got an audition this week for Ariel in a production of The Little Mermaid, so I thought this was the perfect time to write this article! This article contains affiliate links, so anything you like, you can buy right here and now! Have fun!

1.) Berydress Women’s Casual Beach Sundress

This is something casual I can see Ariel in. It eludes to her green fin, but isn’t so literal that they’ll roll their eyes at you.

2.) Homrain Women’s Vintage Swing Dress

I’m not going to lie to you–I don’t know where the picture on the right came from. I don’t remember it in the movie, so it must be at Disneyland? But how perfect is this dress for it?! It’s adorable AND comes in pink:

I’m in love with this match. So cute! Not exact enough to get bad looks, but similar enough to go Disney-bounding in!

3.) Homrain Women’s 1950s Vintage Cocktail Dresses

THIS is a great dress because not only can you wear it for Ariel, I think it’d be great for loads of different auditions. Sandy in Grease. I can see Glinda in Wicked. It’s a good period piece!

4.) GlorySunshine Women’s Deep V Neck Party Dresses

I thought this one was a good one because it’s fun enough for Ariel! She’s a fun gal. And it gives you all that space to show off your arms and back! Plus, it starts at $6.99!!

5.) OUGES Womens Summer Backless Dress

Can’t you just see Ariel in this cute little number? And it’ll be so cute for casual summer outings! We love multi-purpose outfits.

6.) MISSKY Women’s A Line Casual Dress

A casual take on her date look. Also, it’ll fit right in with these Cinderella audition dresses! And don’t rule out Belle in Beauty and the Beast!

7.) Escalier Women’s Wrap Maxi Party Dress

You didn’t think I’d leave out her sail dress, did you? It’s iconic! Everyone’s probably going to wear green–be different!

8.) Womens Button Down Shirts with Tie and emondora Women’s Chiffon Long A-line Maxi Skirt

How cute is this pairing?! I can see this for Ariel, Belle in Beauty and the Beast, Liesl in Sound of Music, Maria in Sound of Music, Sandy in Grease, and a bunch more. Do you see a pattern with my references? I’m going to need to up my reference game…

9.) Miselon Women’s Halter Chiffon Blouses and Rekucci Women’s Ease into Comfort Flared Knee Length Knit Skirt

I like this pairing because you’re going to wear both of these pieces again, maybe together and definitely separately. The shirt is going to look good with everything whether professional or casual, and the skirt is a classic that I definitely want for Belle.

10.) Womens Button Down Shirts with Tie and Missufe Women’s Sleeveless Sweetheart Flared Mini Dress

This has got to be my favorite pairing. You’re going to look so cute! This is a Disney-bound outfit for sure.

Bonus! BALEAF Compression Shorts, Capezio High Waisted Short, and Helisopus Athletic Shorts

It was a little hard finding shorts that matched the color of these outfits, so I hope this proves super useful! As always, I think it’s endlessly classy to match your shorts with your skirt for auditions. It shows–in a preliminary way–that you have your stuff together. (I suppose only if they see it while you’re dancing, though.)

I hope you enjoyed this!
