Hey everyone! This week’s article is all about vision boarding! How to make one, what you should include, why you should totally make one, and my own personal vision board, which I’ve decided to share with you all. This was a great tip I learned from the book You Are a Bad*** by Jen Sincero – otherwise known as my favorite book.

What the heck is a vision board?
A vision board according to Google Dictionary is a collage of images and words representing a person’s wishes or goals, intended to serve as inspiration or motivation. “On her vision board she put a log cabin, a sailboat, a red car, and a man and woman dancing on a white carpet.”
While that’s partially true, it’s much more than that. It’s a tool that your brain can use to focus energy. Energy, as in power. Like, Universe hear me! This is what I want! To learn more about this philosophy, I highly recommend checking out my article on You Are a Bad***! Jen Sincero goes into detail about all of that good stuff that I base my life around.
Why should I make one?
- To focus your energy and power on what you truly want.
- To find out exactly what you want.
- To remind yourself every day what you’re working towards.
- To do some arts and crafts!
Oprah, Jim Carrey, and Will Smith all have used visualization, and that’s no fluke. It works. Our thoughts have power. Use it! You have nothing to lose!
Some proof in my previous vision board.
I had on there exotic beaches. I had on there a giant stage with tons of people. I had on there money. Shortly after that, I flew to Hong Kong, went to exotic beaches, performed on a giant Disney stage in front of tons of people, and got paid for it. That’s my personal story of how I know vision boards work, first hand.
Let’s make a vision board!
The very first thing you’ll need to do is sit down and be honest with yourself.
What do you truly want, deep down?
This is important. Don’t short change yourself. As long as it’s a positive choice coming from a place of love and not fear, there’s no wrong answer.
Get really specific. I want to be on a TV series. Great, what genre? Supernatural. Half hour or hour? Hour. Series Regular or Recurring? Series Regular. What do you want this show’s vibe or energy to be? That it was the best supernatural show since Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Get specific.
What do you want to be? How do you want to feel? Who do you want to be surrounded by? Do you want to travel? Do you want a specific house in a specific place? Get jiggy with it.
What you’ll need:
A background.
Here’s mine!
I like sparkly things! It’s also very easy to unstick photos on shiny paper if you change your mind or want to update the board in a few months!
Pictures/drawings of things/ideas you want.
I printed mine off the computer, but some of them are written. I actually made a little “poster” of me in a supernatural series on Photoshop to really up the ante:
I did another poster for my last vision board too! It was based on self-love, which is something I’ve gotten better at since then. (It’s on my wall now!)
You’ll also need scissors, tape, and markers.
First I added my supernatural poster and some words that I want to represent me.
Then, I knew I really want to be acting on set, so I added that. (And more words!)
Then, I photoshopped a bunch of money into my bank account. It’s a tool that everyone needs! (Thanks Jen Sincero!)
Next I’ve been obsessed with castles, so I added some places I’d love to see. I also included a picture of what I want my abs to look like!
More far-away places and words!
And then I was done! I made a little gif for you guys of my vision board coming to life:
